The unique skills of behavioral health professionals have long been effective in helping patients manage symptoms and overcome barriers associated with mental health disorders. In recent years, these skills have been found incredibly helpful in managing symptoms of physical health disorders through services called Health Behavior Assessments and Interventions. In this session, we’ll explore the similarities and differences between these services and traditional psychotherapy. We’ll look at documentation requirements, coding variables, and appropriate diagnosis codes for each service type. Finally, we’ll explore unique challenges in billing behavioral health services for medical diagnoses.
